OBITUARY

The management of Ardhi Institute Morogoro (ARIMO) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of the late Surveyor Francis Kija Lugomela, a retired Chief Tutor of the institute, which occurred in the early hours of July 3, 2025, in the city of Dar es Salaam. The burial is scheduled to take place on Monday, July 7, 2025, at the family residence in Morogoro town.

The late Surv. Francis K. Lugomela was one of the academic professionals nurtured by Ardhi Institute Morogoro through the Land Surveying certificate program. He continued to advance academically, earning an Advanced Diploma in Land Surveying from Ardhi Institute (ARI – Dar es Salaam), and later a Master’s Degree in Geoinformatics from the International Institute for Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC) in the Netherlands.

Throughout his service at ARIMO, the late Surv. Lugomela served with diligence, integrity, and unwavering dedication. He held several leadership positions, including:

• Head of the Academic Department,
• Chairperson of the Workers’ Union (RAAWU) – ARIMO Branch,
• Deputy Principal – Academics, Research, and Consultancy.

For decades, he made immense contributions to strengthening academic excellence, work discipline, and the growth of our institution. The management and community of ARIMO recognize him as one of the foundational pillars in the history of the institute, and his contributions will continue to be honored by both current and future generations.

The institute extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, relatives, friends, and all professionals affected by this profound loss.
